Quote of the day
I have seen many phases of life; I have moved in imperial circles, I have been a Minister of State; but if I had to live my life again, I would always remain in my laboratory, for the greatest joy of my life has been to accomplish original scientific work, and, next to that, to lecture to a set of intelligent students.

Hi John Yes, that's correct. And I can confirm that the guide, Reactivity 3.2.2, says: Deduce redox half-equations and equations in acidic or neutral solutions. I believe candidates might be asked to balance a...

HI, On this, can I confirm that in neutral conditions, they should write half equations using H+/H2O and that they do not need to use H2O/OH- at all when creating half equations (as basic conditions are not part of spec)? Thanks, John

Site authorMe too! As far as I know, there are no other issues with sodium hydroxide in the burette. My students frequently do it that way round. We just make sure that we don't leave the sodium hydroxide in the burette, and we rinse it out afterwards. The etching...
