All the reasons to get your school a subscription!

This InThinking subject site for Mathematics: Applications & Interpretation is a one stop shop for teachers and students of this course with all the details, advice and resources everyone needs for the teaching and learning of this course. A subscription gives you site wide access for all of the teachers and all of the students in your school. It is one annual fee and is not a function of the number of students. At the time of writing the subscription cost is 285 USD / 250 EUR / 225 GBP and you can subscribe/renew here. This page starts with a 90s video overview and then more details on the key reasons why you should subscribe! Feel free to share this page and the video with teachers, students, parents, IB coordinators and school administrators!

1. One Stop Shop

The site has everything you need as teachers and students all in 1 easily accessible place. As classroom teachers we know that teachers will want to pull in resources from different place, but the point is, if you wanted to, you could run your whole course from this site. Everything from details and advice to classroom activities, practise resources and everything you need to prepare for assessments. As teachers you can provide access to your students to the bits of the site you want them to see that are written for them and so the site can be used for teaching and independent study alike!

2. All the details & All the advice from experienced teachers

Whether you are new to the course, the syllabus version or a veteran teacher, there is always a need to remind ourselves of details and reflect on the choices we have as teachers. We are experienced teachers, workshop leaders, examiners and curriculum developers. We have met and worked with hundreds of teachers over the years and try hard to develop broad understanding from multiple perspectives to offer useful advice and possibilities on everything from planning, to delivery, to management, assessment and more. This applies to teachers and students alike.

3. Clearly organised by topic for easy navigation

As the site gets bigger and bigger and bigger, it becomes more important to be able to find your way around! Again, as classroom teachers we have some experience of knowing what we want, so everything is organised by SL and HL topics. There is a  Topic Page for every subtopic and all the resources you need for teaching and learning are there, organised in the same order on every page! Then we have clear sections on  Assessment  IB Core  and more as our top level pages.

4. A clear focus on pedagogy and classroom activity

As the world of education resources seems to rush head long in to automation, AI and online learning, we are determined to make sure we continue to prioritise what we see as the main event. Classroom activity! We have lots and lots of ideas, resources and rich activities to help make your classes engaging, inspiring and productive places! This is what gets us out of bed in the morning and remains our primary focus as teachers. We have provided as much as we can to help, but know that teachers will enjoy thinking and playing with these ideas themselves! I have written extensively about this in my book 'Mathematics lessons to look forward to!'

5. Teaching slides and Explanations

Hand in hand with the above, we know how important it is to be able to offer clear explanations for our students as a textbook would. So each subtopic comes with a set of slides that can be easily projected or shared with students (via  Student Access) and used to help teachers deftly explain and demonstrate mathematical concepts an ideas and students to review. As a dynamic resource, we are also adding to these all the time!

6. Lots and lots of practise resources and exam style questions

There is no substitute for practise and repetition! Building on rich activity and clear explanations, students will need to practise for themselves with increasing degrees of independence. Our topic pages start with simpler style conceptual practise questions and build to extensive collections of exam style questions! These can all be found on the topic specific pages. Then, in the  External Assessment section you can find a growing collection of original mock exam papers.

7. Question bank tool with 1000 more original exam questions

This is the latest addition to the site and we are delighted that you can now access and use our question bank tool! Here we have a bank of 1000 original exam questions written for the current syllabus that you wont find anywhere else on the site. You can make and save your own question sets by choosing subtopics, difficulty level and number of questions. You can print these for use with students or set them digitally too! Your account will remember and keep all of the sets you prepare for future years too.

8. Internal Assessment center

At 20% of the course, this is a significant part of the course and often presents so of the best opportunities to engage students along with the biggest challenges. In this Internal Assessment center, you will find a treasure trove of resources to help. this includes everything from practise explorations, to inspiration for ideas, advice about all the mathematics that can be used, marked examples, and a complete guide for students from planning to writing that uses examples all the way through. This has proven an invaluable resource for teachers and students alike.

9. A dynamic resource with interaction and weekly updates

This is huge. The website is naturally dynamic and grows and evolves all the time. New activities, new tasks, new questions and exams, more examples and ideas and thoughts are going up all the time. Errors can be corrected! Although we are delighted with what we are able to present as it is, we have many more ideas that we want to add and we know that teachers are always looking for new and original stuff so we always have plenty to do. For example, we are currently developing a plan for adding video lessons for students and reorganising a bit so that the website will be a more obvious alternative to a textbook as well as everything else it is. Users can leave questions, comments and suggestions on any page and we love tp hear from you!

10. Site wide access to all of the above for one annual fee

We know you have alternatives and the school budgets are real! For that reason we have stuck to this model of one annual subscription for all of your staff and all of your students. You decide which parts of the site your students see with  Student Access. At the time of writing it is 285 USD / 250 EUR / 225 GBP and you can subscribe/renew here. For this you have all the elements you would get from a textbook, a question bank and so much more along with all the developments and everything listed above. It is written by experienced teachers with teachers and students of this course and a rich, engaging and interactive education in mind! We think its everything you need and hope its priced so it can always fit in your budget. Hope to see you all online!
