Achieving the IBCP certificate
Drawing together the CRS, DP courses and core subjects
It is important to establish that, like the Diploma Programme and the DP courses, Students studying the IBCP can obtain qualifications from their career-related studies and DP courses in their own right. However, by meeting 5 key areas across the CRS, DP and core elements, students can achieve the whole IBCP certificate. Thorough yes but not quite the 12 prerequisites needed to obtain the Diploma Programme!
To complete and achieve the IBCP certificate, the student need to have ticked 5 key areas to a satisfactory level:
Award of the Career-related Programme[1]
a. The candidate has completed the specified career-related study.
b. The candidate has been awarded a grade 3 or more in at least two of the Diploma Programme courses
registered for the Career-related Programme.
c. The candidate has been awarded a grade of at least D for the reflective project.
d. Personal and professional skills, service learning and language development requirements have been
met.
e. The candidate has not received a penalty for academic misconduct.

Notes on completion
a. Note that this does not specify a particular size career-related studies as this is set by the school. For more information, look at The IB and the IBCP for how you can create a flexible sized programme. Your results for the CRS may well be at a different time to the IB results (DP courses and reflective project) which always are released in the May exam session on July 6th (slightly earlier to schools).
b. The minimum amount of DP courses is 2 at Standard Level. Whether at Standard Level and Higher Level, the student still needs to obtain a level 3 in at least two of their DP subjects.
c. This works out, in the current reflective project curriculum, of approximately 12/36. The reflective project is marked internally by the school and moderated externally by the IB. If an N or an E has been granted, this will indicated on the results.
d. Personal and professional skills, service learning and language development are all evidenced through portfolio and the assessment set by the school. Towards the end of the course you will need to confirm the student's satisfactory completion of the hours and portfolio across the two year course. This will be indicated on the final results but the school will be aware of this beforehand due to the nature of confirming participation.
It also needs to be stressed that these completion requirements sit under the umbrella of academic integrity and honest completion of each of the elements. Any examples of academic misconduct in the DP subjects and reflective project will results in that award not being given and will have a knock-on effect on the awarding of the certificate.
