This sample response is a good one to show students in the sense that there are (hopefully) quite obvious flaws for them to identify. There are many qualities in both essays, but a lack of detailed support for points from the text, a need for more focused and careful attention to aspects of craft - and a tendency overall to summarise or paraphrase, in place of analysis, somewhat limit the marks.
