Getting started: Teachers
Welcome to the Language A: Literature website!
This Inthinking site is designed to support you with your teaching of any and all elements to do with the IBDP Language A: Literature course.
Hopefully, it will suit those who are new to things, but also provide plenty of new materials, advice and extension for those who have taught the course for some time. Some parts are also written for and to your students.
The site is divided into the different 'parts' of the course, along with an introductory section, elements that relate to the Extended Essay and TOK - as well as a resources area in which you will find generic help with teaching such things as essay writing, and an ever expanding series of materials that relate to particular texts. There is a range of marked samples of student work, as well as practical suggestions for meeting the demands of the various examination components.
As time goes on, we hope that the materials will expand and evolve, and we welcome feedback about how we can improve things.
In a world where reading and writing seem under ever persistent and increasing threat from so many places, we hope that the spirit inherent in Richard Rorty's quotation above will continue to drive the way we think about the meaning and value of teaching literature; it is certainly one that informs the philosophy of this site.
We hope you find it useful, practical and interesting.
We have certainly enjoyed making it.
