Shannon teaches IBDP Visual Arts at Leipzig International School (Germany). From South Africa to Egypt to the Mid-Atlantic in the USA, Shannon has been guiding students through art at the secondary school level since 2008. Following a rewarding career teaching visual arts in a community setting, she came into teaching IBDP Visual Arts in 2013. Her interest in teaching art stems from a desire to help students locate their voices, observe and consider other perspectives and viewpoints, and learn to use their hands to navigate a complex and often challenging world.
In addition to teaching secondary students, Shannon maintains an interdisciplinary art practice and helps fellow art teachers rediscover their studio passions to guide their work in the classroom. Her artwork can be seen at shannonbrinkley.com. When she's not making or teaching, Shannon is busy learning new things about the world: at present, tackling her kleingarten and learning German help to maintain her stride.
