Beautiful

This week we have added a new page to our unit of study on Carol Ann Duffy's poetry, this one focused on the poem 'Beautiful' from Duffy's 2002 collection Feminine Gospels. We will continue to add further pages on other poems to this unit and we also plan to develop more units of study on specific literary texts in the coming months.
‘Beautiful’ is written in four sections with each section depicting a famous woman renowned for her beauty. Although the women are never named, and in contrast to poems from The World's Wife collection they never speak, it is clear that they are, in chronological order: Helen of Troy, Cleopatra, Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana.
