Emma Butler

I am a passionate arts educator currently based between Harare and the UAE. I was very much a thrid culture kid growing up.

I studied Fine Art at Chelsea and Central Saint Martins (UAL) in London and have taught since 2007. I have enjoyed teaching in diverse cultural contexts and have lived on many continents. I have taught both IB DP and IB MYP and have a role as an IB assistant examiner.

I am also a practising artist and digital designer who occasionally exhibits work. However, I am most excited about fostering creative communities and designing creative thinking workshops. Notable achievements in my career include curating a major community festival for the Zimbabwean government in 2022 and leading an Art Lab workshop as Artist in Residence at the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi in 2021. Outside of teaching and creating art, I enjoy discovering new cultural experiences and participating in community-driven projects.
