In the Geogebra applet below, you are presented with the graph of a function (blue) with a point P on it.The challenge is to sketch the graph of the derivative of the given function. Create the sketch of the derivative by moving point D (the trace of point D will appear). The x-coordinates of P and D are equal - so as D moves P will move so that the two points maintain the same horizontal position. The y-coordinate of D should be the value of the derivative (gradient of tangent) of the blue function for the value of x (x-coordinate of D and P). There are six different bult-in functions that can be shown by clicking on the 'different function' button. There is also the option of entering your own function. Check the accuracy of your sketch by showing the graph of the derivative.
