International Women's Day
8th March is International Women's Day and this is a great opportunity for organising an assembly/setting up displays on significant women in history. (Please see a previous blog on International Women's Day for links to important women who have often been overlooked in history) .
The story behind International Women's Day and the history of its development over the years is also worth discussing with students.
This year's theme is ‘Accelerate Action’.
IWD 2025 campaign theme is 'Accelerate Action' (International Women's Day)

Exam Revision
As we head towards the May exams, don't forget that we have pages on revision strategies, revision notes and multiple choice quizzes for students. We also have revision flash cards for key topics - hopefully this will help students and inspire them to make their own as well!
Site update
Last month we uploaded a new topic for Paper 2 - Topic 7 on Industrialisation and this month we have started working on another new topic for Paper 2: Topic 9 - Emergence and develoment of Democratic states.
This should be finished in the next couple of months with the case studies of South Africa and Spain and their transition to Democracy.
New quizzes have also been added to Paper 3 topics on Italian and German Unification and the US Civil War.
History in the news: Russia and Ukraine
Given the current focus on Russia and Ukraine, and President Trump's comments and actions over the past two weeks, it seems a good time to revisit some excellent historical narratives about the current war and analysis of the causes leading up to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
This page from Forbes website reviews 5 books to help understand the war - including some, such as Patriot by Navalny that we have covered on other blogs.
See also this site for yet more books on this topic:
The BBC also has an excellent series for understanding the causes of Putin's actions, Putin and the West
